DOWNTIME: How to Identify Waste in the Workplace with FSG Prefab – Inventory
Waste on a project can come in many forms. FSG Prefab likes to use the acronym “DOWNTIME” to describe this waste, look for it, and eliminate it. There are eight types of DOWNTIME waste in construction and manufacturing. On Friday, we learned about “T” – Transportation. Today, we’ll examine the letter “I” in our DOWNTIME acronym – Inventory.
This is an easy waste to identify. Extra material is another very easily identifiable form of waste. Materials that may be returned or dumped because they weren’t used, or wasted raw material because too much was ordered, are a couple of forms of inventory waste. Prefab can help your job site reduce waste by sending you exactly the amount of material you need to get the job done. Learn more in today’s short video.
Take some time today to think about how to identify and eliminate inventory waste in your work. Tomorrow, we’ll learn about the “M” in DOWNTIME – Motion.
