DOWNTIME: How to Identify Waste in the Workplace with FSG Prefab – Motion
Waste on a project can come in many forms. FSG Prefab likes to use the acronym “DOWNTIME” to describe this waste, look for it, and eliminate it. There are eight types of DOWNTIME waste in construction and manufacturing. Yesterday, we learned about “I” – Inventory. Today, we’ll examine the letter “M” in our DOWNTIME acronym – Motion.
Motion is an easy form of waste to spot. Think about all of the trips to and from the truck or van parked outside, all of the back and forth between the gang box, or other components that are not necessary. FSG Prefab can build pre-assembled or pre-kitted components for your next project thus reducing wasted motion. Learn more in today’s short video.
Take some time today to think about how to identify and eliminate motion waste in your work. Tomorrow, we’ll learn about the “E” in DOWNTIME – Extra Processing.
