Master Electrician
Job Description
A Master Electrician usually oversees apprentice and journeymen electricians on electrical jobs. Typically, a master electrician schedules jobs in phases during a planning stage and ensures that all needed parts, materials, and components have been ordered in advance for the completion of the job.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and service electrical systems.
- Source or fabricate replacement electrical components.
- Interpret blueprints and draw rough sketches when required.
- Guide and oversee other apprentices or journeyman electricians.
- Draw up preventative maintenance measures and explain these to clients and other electricians.
- Obtain required permits, equipment, tools, and materials for projects.
- Test and troubleshoot systems.
- Provide assistance during emergencies.
- Update project records and prepare relevant documents and reports for clients.
- Liaise with clients, vendors, and other electricians.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or similar.
- Relevant license or certification.
- A valid driver’s license.
- At least 3-5 years of experience as an Electrician.
- Customer service skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and telephonic communication.
- Experience with power tools and other equipment used in construction.
- Physical strength and stamina.
- Firm grasp of health and safety codes.
- Patience when teaching apprentices
