NAC’s School Supply Drive: Making a Difference One Penny at a Time
Exemplifying FSG’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the quality of life in our communities, NAC recently partnered with Bachman Lake Together to collect school supplies for children in need. With the rising cost of living, the expense of school supplies can be overwhelming for many families, making this initiative especially impactful.
To add some fun to the donation process, Alexis Coburn, co-lead for NAC Service Team 3, proposed a Penny War. The rules were simple: each team had a bucket where employees could drop their coins, but with a twist—pennies counted as negative points! The NAC Events & Communications group quickly organized the competition, and over the next several weeks, teams engaged in a light-hearted rivalry, sneaking (or boldly dropping) pennies into each other’s buckets.
The result? The Penny War raised an impressive $1,242.07 in change, which FSG generously matched, bringing the total to $2,484.14. This amount allowed NAC to purchase 36 fully stocked backpacks for 3rd graders, helping to ease the burden for families and set these students up for success.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to Alexis for sparking the idea, the NAC Events & Communications team for organizing the event, and all the FSG employees who participated in making it a fun and meaningful experience. Thanks to your efforts, 36 children are now better equipped for the school year ahead!
