FSG Announces New Director of Safety and Risk, Corporate Legal Advisor, and Organizational Update

Meet Sam Lewis: Corporate Legal Advisor

Sam Lewis, Corporate Legal Advisor

Sam Lewis joins FSG with a career that reflects an unmatched depth of experience in leadership, safety, and legal expertise.

  • Military Leadership: Sam served 20 years in the U.S. Army, specializing in Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) and leading combined WMD and EOD teams in high-pressure environments. He spent 15 years in direct leadership roles, mentoring soldiers at all levels.
  • Public Safety & Compliance: After retiring from the Army, Sam led safety operations for the Texas Forest Service and at Texas A&M, where he developed innovative safety protocols, managed compliance across multiple campuses, and contributed to transformative projects like the RELLIS Campus and the Fujifilm vaccine facility.
  • Legal Expertise: A graduate of law school with a focus on contracts and corporate law, Sam is uniquely qualified to navigate FSG’s legal challenges.

In his role as Corporate Legal Advisor, Sam will:

  • Streamline contract management processes and reduce contract risk.
  • Implement centralized systems and leverage tools like DocuSign for efficiency.

Sam’s experience as a tradesman and leader perfectly positions him to bridge the gap between fieldwork, tradecraft, and legal strategy, ensuring FSG operates with excellence and compliance. He will report to Chris Wemmert.

Meet Shane Emerson: Director of Safety and Risk

Shane Emerson, Director of Safety & Risk

Shane Emerson’s 11-year career at FSG has been defined by his dedication to safety and his ability to inspire teams.

  • Track Record at FSG: Shane began as a Safety Manager in Corpus Christi before taking on a leadership role in Houston. He has redefined safety policies, empowered teams, and fostered a culture of proactive safety practices.
  • Leadership Success: During the pandemic, Shane organized and led the Propel Academy in Houston, mentoring instructors and guiding students to success.

In his new role as Director of Safety and Risk, Shane will:

  • Re-establish the safety council and revise the safety handbook to reflect emerging industry standards.
  • Integrate advanced technologies, including AI-driven analytics, mobile audit tools, and cloud-based dashboards, to enhance audit management and identify key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Focus on reducing the EMR (Experience Modification Rate) while ensuring actionable insights for local operating companies.
  • Foster a culture of safety and engagement across FSG, emphasizing transparency, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Shane’s vision for Propel Safety includes setting new benchmarks for excellence, integrating sustainability into safety practices, and innovating to meet evolving industry needs. Shane will report to Julie Eddards.

Propel Career Academy and Propel Safety: Unified Leadership

Julie Eddards, VP of Propel

To further strengthen FSG’s commitment to education and safety, Propel Career Academy and Propel Safety will now operate under one unified structure led by Vice President of Propel, Julie Eddards. This alignment combines FSG’s focus on employee development and safety, ensuring these efforts work together to empower and protect our workforce.
