In February, FSG Denver completed a lighting upgrade at the Lone Tree Hub community and event center in Lone Tree, Colorado. The facility features flexible meeting rooms, an e-sports lounge, and a main hall that hosts public events. This combination of spaces and uses made it an ideal space for a dynamic lighting solution. The catch? A tight budget.
The South Suburban Parks and Recreation department wanted to outfit the Lone Tree Hub with modern RGB lighting with dimming capabilities, but also had to stick to a tight budget. Project Manager Cody Bass and his team found a creative solution to save money. By retrofitting the current lamps instead of replacing the fixtures, they were able to give the customer what they wanted and reduce costs.
“The indirect/direct fixtures were in good shape, so we used an LED T8 lamp that was able to connect to a Bluetooth mesh network. This allowed us to remap their control of lighting and dimming like the customer requested.”

The team used the same Bluetooth-controlled RGB technology on can lights as well, so they could be grouped and controlled seamlessly with the T8 lamps. Now, with the touch of a button on a tablet, the lights can change colors, dim levels, or switch between custom scene presets. After the project was complete, FSG trained the Lone Tree Hub staff on how to create and adjust lighting scenes.
Today, the Lone Tree Hub uses its new system to elevate and enhance events with dynamic, customizable lighting scenes, and they didn’t have to break the budget to do it. Great job, FSG Denver!
