One Central Texas: Four Promotions Mark the Next Chapter for Austin and San Antonio
As we continues our transformation into one Enterprise, we’re intentionally developing leaders from within. Central Texas, where Austin and San Antonio have come together as one unified team over the past year, is leading that effort. These four promotions are the next step in building a strong Central Texas organization. [leer en español]
These aren’t just new titles. They’re proof of something FSG has believed for a long time: the best leaders for tomorrow are usually already on the team today.
Michael O’Shea — Director of Technology, FSG
Michael’s FSG story starts at the lighting counter, 17 years ago. From there, he moved through inside and outside sales, selling everything from lighting retrofits to electrical service work, sign
fabrication, access control, and camera systems. He even developed and closed a solar project for Austin Community College. That range gave him a front-row seat to just how much
subject-matter expertise lives across FSG.
Now he’s taking that view enterprise-wide, leading Technology strategy across the entire company. “The technology business is thriving, and FSG should be playing a big role in that,” Michael said. “As the world becomes more connected and digitized, the need for high-quality, low-voltage systems will only increase. We want FSG at the forefront.”

Outside of work, Michael’s proudest title is dad to Camilla, 8, and Patrick, 12. He’s also a first-generation American (his father grew up in Ireland) and recently earned his blue belt in jiujitsu.
Garrett Smith — Director of Construction, Central Texas
Ten years ago, Garrett started in FSG’s Dallas warehouse while still in college. After graduating, he moved to Austin and worked his way through Estimating and Business Development before leading the Construction Department. That path gave him a firsthand look at just how many people it takes to chase and complete a single project.
Now he’s taking on Construction leadership across both Austin and San Antonio. “It really does take a village to be successful,” Garrett said. “We spend more time with each other than with our own families, so I put a lot of stock into building relationships that outlast the work itself. Whether things go well or go sideways, we’re a team, and I’ll be in the trenches with you.”
A self-described “small-town West Texas boy,” Garrett spends his time outside of work with his family, on the golf course, hunting and fishing, or around a campfire.
Chip Seck — Director of Service, Central Texas
Chip’s FSG story goes back 35 years, and it started in San Antonio. He began as a Service Tech there in 1991, moved to Austin in 1999 to take on a Service Project Manager role with no formal management experience, and worked his way up to Service Manager around 2009. Along the way, he’s touched nearly every corner of FSG’s electrical and lighting business, but he’s always gravitated toward Service. “I really enjoy helping solve problems,” Chip said. “Being in the Service Department gives us something new every day — that’s what I love about this part of our business.”
Now, more than three decades later, Chip is heading back to where it all began. One colleague called it “operation full circle.” “I am honored and excited to be able to go back to where this all started for me and help take the team to another level,” Chip said. “Bringing both teams together as a Central Texas operation is something I’m proud to be a part of.”
Chip is a lone Steelers fan in Cowboys country. He and his wife Sandy, whom he met scooping ice cream at a Baskin-Robbins in Leon Valley (that’s still open today), will celebrate 30 years of marriage this November.
Kris Price — Construction Manager, Austin
With Garrett stepping into his new regional role, Kris Price moves up from Project Executive to lead Austin’s Construction team. Kris has worked at FSG for five years across two stints with the company, touching nearly every part of the Construction business — from preconstruction and budgeting to operations and project execution.
“The best projects happen when people communicate, trust each other, and work together to solve problems,” Kris said. “I hope people know they can still pick up the phone and call me. Just because my title changed doesn’t mean I have all the answers.”
Outside of work, Kris spends his time with his wife Carley and their family. If he’s not with them, you can find him tackling a project in the garage. Fun fact: he was born on the Fourth of July.
These four promotions are much more than a change on the org chart. They’re a reflection of our commitment to developing leaders from within, and a Central Texas team that’s proven, over the past year, what’s possible when Austin and San Antonio work as one.

La historia de Michael en FSG comenzó en el mostrador de iluminación, hace 17 años. Desde ahí pasó por ventas internas y externas, vendiendo de todo — desde retrofits de iluminación hasta servicio eléctrico, fabricación de letreros, control de acceso y cámaras — incluso desarrolló y cerró un proyecto de energía solar para Austin Community College. Ese recorrido le dio una vista privilegiada de todo el conocimiento técnico que existe dentro de FSG.
Ahora lleva esa visión a toda la empresa, liderando la estrategia de Tecnología a nivel enterprise. “El negocio de tecnología está creciendo, y FSG debería jugar un papel importante en eso,” dijo Michael. “Mientras el mundo se vuelve más conectado y digital, la necesidad de sistemas de bajo voltaje de alta calidad solo va a crecer. Queremos que FSG esté a la vanguardia.”

Fuera del trabajo, el título que más orgullo le da a Michael es el de papá — de Camilla, de 8 años, y Patrick, de 12. También es hijo de inmigrantes de primera generación (su papá creció en Irlanda) y recientemente obtuvo su cinturón azul en jiu-jitsu.
Garrett Smith — Director de Construcción, Centro de Texas
Hace diez años, Garrett comenzó en el almacén de FSG en Dallas mientras todavía estaba en la universidad. Chip Seck — Director de Servicio, Centro de Texas
La historia de Chip en FSG se remonta 35 años — y comenzó en San Antonio. Empezó ahí como Técnico de Servicio en 1991, se mudó a Austin en 1999 para tomar un puesto de Gerente de Proyecto de Servicio sin experiencia formal en gerencia, y fue subiendo hasta llegar a Gerente de Servicio alrededor de 2009. En el camino, ha tocado casi todos los rincones del negocio eléctrico y de iluminación de FSG, pero siempre se ha inclinado hacia el lado de Servicio. “De verdad disfruto ayudar a resolver problemas,” dijo Chip. “Estar en el Departamento de Servicio nos da algo nuevo cada día — eso es lo que amo de esta parte del negocio.”
Ahora, más de tres décadas después, Chip regresa a donde todo comenzó. Un compañero lo llamó “la operación círculo completo.” “Estoy honrado y emocionado de poder regresar a donde comenzó todo esto para mí y ayudar a llevar al equipo a otro nivel,” dijo Chip. “Unir a los dos equipos en una sola operación del Centro de Texas es algo de lo que me siento orgulloso de ser parte.”
Chip es el único fanático de los Steelers en tierra de Cowboys. Él y su esposa Sandy — a quien conoció sirviendo helados en una Baskin-Robbins en Leon Valley que todavía sigue abierta — celebrarán 30 años de matrimonio este noviembre.
Kris Price — Gerente de Construcción, Austin
Con Garrett asumiendo su nuevo rol regional, Kris Price asciende de Ejecutivo de Proyecto a liderar el equipo de Construcción de Austin. Kris lleva cinco años en FSG en dos etapas distintas con la empresa, tocando casi todas las partes del negocio de Construcción — desde la preconstrucción y el presupuesto hasta las operaciones y la ejecución de proyectos.
“Los mejores proyectos suceden cuando la gente se comunica, se tiene confianza, y trabaja junta para resolver problemas,” dijo Kris. “Espero que la gente sepa que todavía pueden llamarme. Que haya cambiado de puesto no significa que tenga todas las respuestas.”
Fuera del trabajo, Kris pasa tiempo con su esposa Carley y su familia — y cuando no, generalmente anda metido en algún proyecto en el garaje. Dato curioso: nació el cuatro de julio.
Estos cuatro ascensos son más que un cambio en el organigrama. Son un reflejo de una empresa que ha sido intencional en desarrollar líderes desde adentro, y de un equipo del Centro de Texas que ha demostrado, durante el último año, lo que es posible cuando Austin y San Antonio trabajan como uno solo.
