My ride for a cure for Mommy McBroom
My dad will give me the strength and motivation to get through this ride
Hey everyone. My name is Douglas McBroom and I’m from Corpus Christi, TX. This is my ride for a cure for mommy McBroom.
Those of you that don’t know, my mommy Michelle McBroom is currently undergoing chemotherapy for the 2nd time. She has been diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer which is non-curable. Yes she could go into remission but she will always have this type of breast cancer no matter what.
FDA is in stage-3 of clinical trials with a new drug called Parp. They have not approved it yet but hopefully soon.
Some of you are probably wondering, well what kind of ride is this? I’m going to ride my mountain bike, that has been custom built by Eric at E&C cycles, from Richmond VA to Corpus Christi, TX. It’s 1,617 miles and going to take me 8-10 long hot days to accomplish my ride.
I will have to cover a little over 150 miles a day to reach home in 8-10 days.
I made this page so I can share my experience with yall. I will post everything involving my training, my weekend rides, my routes and the cities that I will take rest stops at. I will be moving all of my household goods down to Corpus Christi, TX in a Penske. The great man I call Dad (Billy McBroom) will be following me in a 26′ Penske moving truck.
My dad has always been my biggest supporter and will give me the strength and motivation to get through this ride. The purpose of this ride is to raise awareness for triple negative breast cancer and to send a message to all the women that are or have been affected by this to fight! Fight until there isn’t anything left and when you think you’re at your breaking point dig deep and push threw.
You’re not alone!!! I also would like to raise money to donate towards the triple negative breast cancer foundation and research any type of donations will be truly appreciated. God bless you.
