Perth Amboy New Jersey – 18 Feb, 2014: FACILITY SOLUTIONS GROUP, FSG, of Austin Texas announced Tuesday that it has completed the first phase of an advanced lighting system upgrade at Newark’s Liberty International Airport.
Working for Honeywell, FSG’s team in Perth Amboy New Jersey partnered with Sensity Systems of Sunnyvale California to deploy one of the most technologically advanced lighting systems available on the market to date.
The project consisted of the upgrade of one hundred and seventy 450 watt metal halide fixtures to more environmentally friendly and energy efficient LED fixtures. The new fixtures include sensors that are connected wirelessly and allow the fixtures to communicate environmental variables so that the best decisions can be made concerning operational efficiency. In addition to the sensors, a system of security cameras allows the Port Authority to verify the environmental variables detected by the light fixture sensors and respond appropriately.
FSG has worked with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey for several years now in an effort to help the Port Authority attain its energy usage reduction goals. Bernie Erickson, Northeast regional manager for FSG expands on FSG’s relationship with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey,
“FSG has a long standing relationship with the Port Authority at not only Newark Airport, but the bridges and tunnels as well. At Newark Airport we have updated lighting in the administration buildings, parking garages, monorail stations and the terminals. In 2010 we replaced the chillers for the HVAC systems in all three terminals. We knew the Sensity solution would be a perfect fit for the Port Authority, and we are proud to have brought the solution to them.”
