FSG Participates in Annual Event Benefiting Families in Need
Nine years ago, Leon Mowadia and some friends founded an organization to help helps raise money for families in the NJ Shore area who are battling cancer and other illnesses.
This past summer, many FSG Northeast employees participated in and donated their time for the 9th Annual Friends Helping Friends of NJ Golf Outing & Gala event. The event starts with a full day of golf with over 100 golfers. The evening Gala Gift Auction event is attended by over 300 people, with 3 levels of prizes and over 150 baskets to bid on including vacations, electronics, and more. This year FSG national account customers from the area attended and won items from concert tickets, to sports memorabilia and more.
The event receives support from many FSG lighting vendors who also donated items and/or attended the event. These vendors include Philips, Sylvania, Leviton, Green Creative, Solais, and local manufacturer representatives PB Lighting, Enterprise Lighting, Liberty Lighting, ELA, and Burgoyne Sales.
All of the proceeds from the event are given directly to the families sponsored each year. Since its inception, this organization has raised over $600,000 for over 25 families in need through this annual event. More details of this great organization can be found at www.FriendsHelpingFriendsNJ.com.
Below are the beneficiaries of this years gala event:
ZANE FAMILY – Jill and Matthew Zane have dedicated themselves to helping their son, Caden, through many medical issues. Visit our website for a touching video called “Cause Caden Can – The Story of a Beautiful, Medically Complex Little Boy”. This is a great story of resilience and dedication. Click Here to see a video about Caden’s journey.
HOPE RENDA – Hope is a 27 year old expecting mother who is battling a very aggressive form of non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Hope will be getting chemo during this pregnancy to stall it. After delivering her child, she will go in for 4 months of aggressive chemotherapy. This has caused financial and emotional hardships on both Hope and her family.
SEAN GOFF – Sean (age 6) is the youngest of 7 children and has Sever Aplastic Anemia, a rare and life-long blood disorder. Seans brother (Keith Jr, age 9) was born with a congenital heart defect. Sean’s mother (Tracy) was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer in 2014, which has metastasized and is terminal.
This is just another example of FSG employees “paying it forward” to help others in need!
