FSG 2018 Year in Review: FSG Gives Back

Last year, FSG employees nationwide banded together in order to better their community in various ways.

Corporate

The Accounts Payable team at our Corporate office volunteered at the Capital of Texas Food Bank in November.

They were able to help sort 7,800 pounds of food which fed the community approximately 6,500 meals with one-third of that community including children.

Kansas City

FSG Kansas City participates in a monthly community outreach project. It can range from an after hours activity to a staff building event over lunch to an optional donation for a cause. If an employee has something near and dear to their heart, they attempt to incorporate it.

St. James Food Kitchen/Bishop Sulliven Center
St. James Center is a local food kitchen that serves meals to those in the area that need help. KC served over 300 meals in one night.

Leukemia and Lymphoma Society
The KC employees organized their own version of the Lemons for Leukemia Challenge. They had a fun in-house lunch and employees took the lemon challenge. They collected over $200 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society!

Ronald McDonald Foundation
KC collected yellow items to include in bags for hospitalized children. The staff was creative in what they chose to include: pencils, stickers, yellow note pads, etc. It just had to be yellow! They made an assembly line in the conference room to stuff the bags with all the fun items.

PB & J making for City Union Mission
Over lunch one day, our KC office staff made over 100 peanut putter and Jelly sandwiches and delivered them to the City Union Mission for lunch.

Red Nose Foundation
Our KC office had some good natured fun while supporting this national cause that helps children living in underprivileged circumstances. They were able to collect $200 for the Red Nose Foundation.

Happy Bottoms
Last summer at the KC staff picnic, each employee and their families brought droves of diapers to donate to this charity. In total, they sent over 1000 diapers to families in need.

Operation Gratitude
Kansas City sent over 75 pounds of Halloween candy in October and in November our KC office wrote letters to enlisted soldiers and veterans as part of this charity. Several staff members had their children draw and color pictures to send to our troops.

Perth Amboy

FSG Perth Amboy participated in “Sock the Homeless” Drive.

Socks are the #1 most requested item in homeless shelters. The Raritan Bay YMCA, which is located about half a mile from the FSG Perth Amboy office, held a sock drive to help those experiencing homelessness and poverty.

FSG naturally jumped on the opportunity to take part in a local cause. Coordinated by Shelly Terhune from our Utility Services division, the New Jersey region was able to collection more than 300 brand new pairs of socks for the sock drive. Great work by Shelly for coordinating and a round of applause all of those who participated!

National Accounts

Every Year, FSG National Accounts supports Homeless Vets through American Legion Riders of Love Field Dallas Post 453. Post 453 supports Homeless Veterans Services of Dallas all year by collecting money and donations for their wish list. This organization provides and connects vets with food, clothing, education, legal services, counseling, job services, etc.

In the past (2015-2017), NAC collected money to wear jeans for an entire month, all of that money ($1200-$1300) was given to the Resource Center. 2018 was the first year NAC employees collected coats.

This past year (when jeans became part of the dress code), FSG National Accounts had to get creative with what to donate. Pam Bates came up with the idea to have a BBQ Luncheon. FSG provided the food, the resource center folks were kind enough to cook it. Our employees purchased a BBQ plate for $10 and then all of the proceeds ($1800) went to Support the resource center. The volunteers of the resource center even came to our facility and served the employees.

FSG National Accounts will continue to support the resource center for the Homeless Vets. We are the Home of the Free BECAUSE of the Brave.
