Master Electrician

Job Description

A Master Electrician usually oversees apprentice and journeymen electricians on electrical jobs. Typically, a master electrician schedules jobs in phases during a planning stage and ensures that all needed parts, materials, and components have been ordered in advance for the completion of the job.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, and service electrical systems.
  • Source or fabricate replacement electrical components.
  • Interpret blueprints and draw rough sketches when required.
  • Guide and oversee other apprentices or journeyman electricians.
  • Draw up preventative maintenance measures and explain these to clients and other electricians.
  • Obtain required permits, equipment, tools, and materials for projects.
  • Test and troubleshoot systems.
  • Provide assistance during emergencies.
  • Update project records and prepare relevant documents and reports for clients.
  • Liaise with clients, vendors, and other electricians.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or similar.
  • Relevant license or certification.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience as an Electrician.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and telephonic communication.
  • Experience with power tools and other equipment used in construction.
  • Physical strength and stamina.
  • Firm grasp of health and safety codes.
  • Patience when teaching apprentices
