Job Description

The Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring the safe operation of electrical systems and equipment within an organization. This role involves developing and implementing safety policies and procedures, conducting risk assessments, providing training, and promoting an electrical safety culture. In addition, the Electrical Safety Manager plays a critical role in mitigating electrical hazards, complying with safety regulations, and fostering a safe work environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Electrical Safety Program Development: Develop and implement an electrical safety program that aligns with industry standards, regulations, and best practices. Establish policies, procedures, and guidelines to promote safe electrical practices and minimize electrical hazards.
  • Compliance and Regulatory Adherence: Ensure compliance with electrical safety regulations, codes, and standards (e.g., National Electrical Code – NEC, Occupational Safety and Health Administration – OSHA). Stay updated with changes in regulations and implement necessary adjustments to maintain compliance.
  • Risk Assessment and Hazard Identification: Conduct regular risk assessments and hazard identification related to electrical systems and equipment. Identify potential electrical hazards, evaluate associated risks, and implement preventive measures to minimize or eliminate hazards.
  • Training and Education: Develop and deliver electrical safety training programs for employees, contractors, and relevant personnel. Train employees on safe work practices, electrical system operation, lockout/tagout procedures, and emergency response protocols.
  • Safety Inspections and Audits: Perform routine inspections and audits to assess the electrical safety conditions within the organization. Identify non-compliance issues, safety deficiencies, and areas for improvement. Develop corrective action plans and ensure timely resolution of identified issues.
  • Incident Investigation and Reporting: Lead investigations of electrical incidents, accidents, and near-misses. Determine root causes, develop corrective actions, and communicate findings to management. Maintain accurate incident records and prepare reports for regulatory authorities as required.
  • Electrical System Design Review: Review electrical system designs, installations, and modifications to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations. Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and project teams to address safety considerations during the design and construction phases.
  • Safety Culture Promotion: Promote a strong electrical safety culture throughout the organization. Engage employees at all levels, raise awareness about electrical hazards, and encourage active participation in safety initiatives. Recognize and reward individuals and teams for their commitment to electrical safety.
  • Safety Committee Participation: Participate in safety committees or teams to provide expertise and guidance on electrical safety matters. Collaborate with other safety professionals to develop and implement organization-wide safety initiatives.
  • Continuous Improvement: Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to electrical safety. Identify opportunities for process improvements, training enhancements, or safety-related initiatives. Implement changes and measure their effectiveness.


  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, occupational safety, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Electrical Safety Compliance Professional – CESCP) are advantageous.
  • Proven experience in electrical safety management, preferably in an industrial or commercial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical safety regulations, codes, and standards (e.g., NEC, OSHA standards).
  • Familiarity with electrical system design, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent understanding of electrical hazards and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Experience in developing and implementing electrical safety programs and procedures.
  • Training and facilitation skills to deliver effective electrical safety training programs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess risks and develop appropriate control measures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage employees and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage safety inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
  • Proficiency in incident reporting and documentation.
  • Knowledge of safety management systems and continuous improvement methodologies.
