On Thursday, April 25, FSG had a topping-out ceremony for 1522 First Ave., a 30-story medical office building in New York City. The building will have 400,000 square feet of office and retail space on the ground floor and cellar levels and the anchor tenant, The Hospital for Special Surgery, will occupy 200,000 square feet on the first eight stories of the building. FSG is proud to be the electrical contractor making this build happen.
A topping-out ceremony is a tradition when the tallest and last beam or equivalent is placed on a project. It marks a major milestone for everyone on the project. At the topping out ceremony, prestigious Hammer Awards were given to Foreman Marco Parcor and Electrical Superintendant Brian Favillo. Very few of these awards are given by Lend Lease on a site like this with hundreds of tradesmen and women, so this was a huge honor.
The Hospital for Special Surgery’s new facility will feature offices and treatment rooms for musculoskeletal conditions and will be fitted with enhanced ventilation and filtration systems. The programming also includes space for the offices of the Department of Health, as well as room for ambulatory care and surgical facilities.
Congratulations to Marco and Brian, and to Chris Papadatos and the rest of the FSG team in New York!
