Employee Spotlight: Luis Larios – Apprentice Electrician for FSG Houston
Luis Larios joined FSG Houston in 2019 as an apprentice electrician and quickly discovered that his career would take him to new heights. Literally.
Today, he’s not just an apprentice; he’s a certified Rope Access Technician, using rappelling skills to service hard-to-reach lighting fixtures across Houston’s skyline.
Luis first learned about rappelling through his journeyman in the aerial department. He was all in after seeing a few pictures and hearing stories from the field. “I got into rappelling because it looked pretty awesome,” he says. “Not a lot of people get the opportunity to do this, especially within FSG, so when I saw the chance, I took it.”
On any given day, Luis might be suspended hundreds of feet in the air, repairing or replacing lighting fixtures on the crown of a high-rise. Recently, he and his team were working on four-foot LED fixtures at MetroNational Tower, safely navigating complex angles and heights with skill and precision.

Rappelling isn’t just a job for Luis, it’s something he looks forward to. “Any time I hear we’re going out to rappel, I get excited. I know it’s going to be a great day,” he says. His passion and dedication reflect the kind of spirit that drives FSG forward: curiosity, commitment, and the courage to take on the extraordinary.
For those considering rope access work, Luis has simple advice: “It definitely takes a certain type of person. But if you get the opportunity, take it.”
