Project Spotlight: Wylie Water Treatment Plant Upgrade
FSG Dallas recently completed a major electrical upgrade at the Wylie Water Treatment Plant in Wylie, Texas, the LARGEST single-site, fully ozonated water treatment plant in the United States! Working in a live water treatment environment adds an extra layer of responsibility, and who better to get it done than us!
This project took a large, coordinated crew working across multiple areas of the facility, and it required careful planning and constant communication throughout every phase of construction. From day one, our goal was clear: keep the plant online while we delivered the upgrades. Through teamwork, safety, and close coordination with plant operations, we ensured the facility stayed fully functional, with no interruption.
Now that the upgrades are complete, the facility has increased operational flexibility. The plant can undergo maintenance on one half of the system while the other half remains fully operational, improving long-term reliability and reducing downtime.
This work supported the broader Plant 4 expansion project, which added the ability to produce an additional 70 million gallons per day (MGD) of ozonated drinking water. That expanded capacity supports 2.2 million people across the North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) service area, strengthening North Texas’ ability to meet growing demand with safe, high-quality water.
