As we enter the month of June, we want to bring attention to an often overlooked issue – men’s health – specifically preventable health issues. While it’s important for everyone to take control of their health to the best of their abilities, we want to raise awareness about men’s health specifically because men are more likely than women to die from heart disease, cancer, and unintentional injuries. They are also less likely than women to get regular checkups and screenings.
This month, FSG is committed to raising awareness about men’s health and encouraging our employees to take steps to improve their health. We want to remind you about preventative screenings (and encourage you to ACTUALLY do them), give you some information about men’s health issues, and encourage you to make some healthy lifestyle choices and/or changes.
Free Preventative Exams
Preventative exams are covered 100% by both of our UHC health insurance plans and we encourage ALL employees to take advantage of these FREE exams each year. Sure, it’s easy to let life get in the way and forget about yearly checkups and screenings, but these exams help to identify potential health risks and address them before they become more serious. Contact your doctor to find out what preventative exams you are eligible for and to schedule them accordingly.
FSG Benefits Administrator, Mary Payne, wants to remind ALL employees that even if you do not have healthcare coverage through FSG, you can still take advantage of the Health Advocate program we offer to help enhance your health and well-being.
Information about Men’s Health Issues
United Healthcare and Health Advocate have put together quick-reference PDFs to provide you with information on men’s health issues, recommended screenings, and actions you can take to improve your overall health. We encourage you to take some time and read through them.
Healthy Lifestyle Choices
This one’s the kicker. In addition to taking advantage of free health screenings and becoming more informed about men’s health issues, at the end of the day, making healthy lifestyle choices and changes is what it’s all about. Things like participating in regular physical activity, eating a balanced diet, drinking less, and quitting smoking will all greatly contribute to your quality of life and well-being. Getting enough restful sleep each night is also important and often ignored.
At FSG, we want you to prioritize your health and well-being in all areas – physical, mental, and spiritual – for you and your family. Thank you for all that you do to make FSG great!
We believe in celebrating important moments in our employees’ lives. If you have a story about an employee or a project you’d like to see on FSG Resources, please share it! Whether it’s a personal achievement or a team accomplishment, we want to recognize and celebrate your successes.
