Celebrating Construction Safety Week

Construction Safety Week is an annual event in May that focuses on promoting health and safety at construction sites. At FSG, we’re also using this week as an opportunity to celebrate our safety success!

Ensuring the safety of our team is a core priority at FSG. We actively engage in providing training, resources, and support to create a safe workplace. Our excellent safety record not only protects our employees but also provides financial benefits for the institution. With our high safety ratings, we enjoy lower insurance costs and attract more business by demonstrating our low risk to potential clients.

FSG’s 2023 Safety Ratings

Some of the most commonly used safety ratings include EMR, TRIR, LTIR, and DART. Achieving a low safety rating is a significant accomplishment for any company, especially those of us in the construction industry. Our ratings prove that FSG prioritizes safety, has implemented effective safety management systems to prevent workplace injuries, and that our employees are dedicated to safety.

Experience Modification Rate (EMR)
EMR is based on a company’s workers’ comp claims for the previous three years. FSG’s EMR of .80 is lower than the industry average of 1.0. Having a low EMR also means that FSG is eligible for lower workers’ compensation insurance premiums, resulting in cost savings.

Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR)
The Total Recordable Incident Rate is a measure of a company’s past safety performance based on the number of recordable OSHA incidents. FSG’s TRIR of .25 is significantly lower than the industry average of 2.9, indicating that we have a much lower incidence of workplace injuries compared to other construction companies.

Lost Time Incident Rate (LTIR)
FSG’s LTIR of .21 is lower than the industry average of 1.2, proving that FSG has a lower incidence of workplace injuries and illnesses resulting in lost workdays compared to other construction companies. A low LTIR is a good indicator of a company’s safety management systems and its commitment to providing a safe working environment for its employees.

Days Away, Restricted, or Transferred (DART) Rate
DART score reflects the number of incidents in a year that resulted in an employee being absent from work, restricted in terms of the type of work they could perform, or permanently transferred to another job because of a workplace-related injury. FSG’s DART rate of .25 is much lower than the industry average of 1.6. Achieving a low DART rate proves FSG has effective safety management systems in place.

Simply put, FSG’s safety ratings are exceptional. They serve as an excellent example for other companies in the industry to follow and we want to commend our hardworking employees. Thank you for doing your part to keep FSG safe!

We believe in celebrating important moments in our employees’ lives. If you have a story about an employee or a project you’d like to see on FSG Resources, please share it! Whether it’s a personal achievement or a team accomplishment, we want to recognize and celebrate your successes.
