Director of Engineering

Job Description

As a Director of Engineering, you will be responsible for supervising engineers/ drafters involved in the coordination and modeling, alterations, addition, and/or repair of electrical systems, conductors, and associated materials and equipment on any type of project, or maybe the primary drafter on smaller construction, retrofit, or tenant finish projects or take over any project to meet client demands. The ideal candidate must have previous drafting experience, a solid employment track record, and demonstrate integrity and reliability. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Direct installation of design/ drafting and coordination of feeders; equipment switchboards, panel boards such as pumps, motors, and generators control and distribution apparatus such as switch gear, relays, and circuit breaker panels; lighting fixtures and outlets; and related connections and terminations.
  • Monitor work as performed, direct subordinate crews, and schedule work according to the pace of coordination and field schedule
  • Be prepared to perform work being supervised for either production or instruction.
  • Supervise workers to ensure their work follows plans and is on schedule.
  • Guidance and mentorship of team members to promote the growth of individuals and the team. Develop a team that provides a Class A experience for our clients. Make FSG’s engineering department a sought-after place to work in the industry.
  • Have a client-facing presence and strive to have clients see you as a go-to problem solver.
  • Responsible for SOP management, driving discipline, securing files and equipment
  • Design, maintain, implement, and improve electrical instruments and equipment.
  • Supervise and train project staff as needed.
  • Inspect completed projects to ensure conformance with design standards.
  • Apply principles of electrical theory to engineering projects.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the division vice president or director of construction.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Previous drafting experience is essential.
  • Solid employment track record demonstrating progressive responsibility in engineering roles.
  • Experience in supervising and training project staff.
  • Proficiency in designing, maintaining, implementing, and improving electrical instruments and equipment.
  • Strong knowledge and application of principles of electrical theory to engineering projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
