Richard is a Project Manager with FSG in Houston, and his FSG story begins in 2018, when he walked through the door as an industrial fiber technician. Three days in, he was learning to terminate fiber optics. Three months in, he was leading his own crew, pulling cable across chemical plants all over Southeast Texas. [leer en español]
Two years ago, he stepped into a new role as fiber optic superintendent here at FSG to oversee a crew of fiber techs, build on what he learned in the field, and help his team do better work.
Ask Richard what brings him the most pride, and the answer is simple: tackling the hardest thing on the job and getting it done. He looks for the toughest piece of any project and goes at it first. When teammates hit a wall, he sits down with them and works through it together. That’s where he finds the joy in this trade.
His advice for anyone trying to build a career at FSG?
“Come in with an eager mind. Learn from those around you. Find your field leadership and see what you can do to make their job easier. If you don’t have to be told what’s next, you will be very successful in this trade, and in anything that you do.”

Richard es Project Manager de FSG en Houston, pero su historia comienza en 2018, cuando entró por la puerta como técnico de fibra óptica industrial. ¿Su consejo para quienes quieren construir una carrera en FSG?
“Llega con una mente abierta y con ganas de aprender. Aprende de los que te rodean. Busca a tus líderes de campo y encuentra la manera de hacerles el trabajo más fácil. Si no necesitas que te digan qué sigue, vas a tener mucho éxito en este oficio y en cualquier cosa que hagas.”
