FSG COO of Distribution, Leon Mowadia featured in tED Magazine
FSG’s Chief Operating Officer for Distribution, Leon Mowadia, was the subject of a recent feature article in tED Magazine, the lighting distribution industry’s leading North American publication. In the May 2023 edition, Mowadia was included in a “Business Focus” article that discussed the importance of solid manufacturer relationships in the lighting distribution industry.
Leon explains how FSG’s decision to partner with a particular manufacturer includes variables beyond just product and price. He addressed a number of critical issues with lighting manufacturers that drive distributor purchase decisions and ultimately help FSG deliver on its mission to provide the best products and services to our customers.
Among the most important factors Mowadia considers when evaluating a manufacturer’s capacity to support FSG are training and development, project support, marketing support, merchandising/POP support, warranty support, and customer and channel focus.
According to Leon, evaluating the state of FSG’s manufacturer relationships began on his first day as COO for Distribution. “When I took over as COO a year ago, I reviewed our manufacturers and developed a list of ‘preferred vendors’ based on such factors as a certain volume threshold, a tiered rebate in place for sales performance/growth, and coverage coast to coast.”
He remains focused on assuring the industry’s best manufacturer relationships are in place and working hard for FSG and its customers every day. He says, “There are a ton of manufacturers out there, but the ease of getting value-engineered options, pricing, and specifications as well as the actual relationship between the distributor and manufacturer are key.”
