P2P – Warehouse / Purchasing April 2012

We focused our attention on completing the identification and defining of the list of most commonly stocked commodity material items that are considered “truck stock”.  The purpose was to finalize the list so that we can forward to EDI vendors.  They will be asked to tag FSG part numbers to the TYPE of part, irregardless of manufacturer.  Currently we may have 5 or more FSG part numbers for a 1/2″ set screw connector unique to the various mfgrs.  This has caused great confusion and inconsistency in managing truck stock inventories.  Now that the list is complete, (150 items + / -) I will be contacting the vendors to get them working on it.  Robin Taylor also discussed the issue of direct costing of Inventory to work orders.  (same topic as P2P admin).
