FSG Joins the Sourcewell Cooperative: Why That’s a Big Deal

Big news! FSG now has access to the Signify/Genlyte Solutions contract through Sourcewell, one of the largest cooperative purchasing organizations in the country. If “cooperative purchasing contract” sounds like the kind of phrase that makes your eyes glaze over, stick with us. This one actually matters to all of us, not just for the sales team.

What is Sourcewell, in plain English?

Sourcewell is a public agency that does the painful, time-consuming bid process on behalf of thousands of public and nonprofit organizations. Schools, cities, hospitals, transit agencies, and universities can all buy from a Sourcewell-approved contract without running their own competitive bid every time.

Translation: they skip months of paperwork. We skip months of waiting.

Why this is good for FSG

Public sector customers love the idea of working with us, but procurement rules often slow everything down. With this contract in place, a school district or municipality can move from “we’d like to do this project” to “let’s get started” without the pain of a traditional bid cycle.

Specifically, the contract lets us offer customers:

  1. Faster procurement: A pre-solicited contract means no separate bid process.
  2. Compliance confidence: It’s built to meet public purchasing requirements.
  3. Industry-leading lighting and controls: They get full access to the Genlyte Solutions portfolio.
  4. Single-source delivery: Audits, design, sourcing, installation, controls, PM, and ongoing service all come directly from us.
  5. Energy and sustainability support Modernization and ESG goals are baked in.

Who this is especially useful for

The contract is a strong fit for:

  • K-12 and higher education
  • Municipalities and government agencies
  • Healthcare facilities
  • Transportation agencies
  • Commercial and industrial campuses
  • Utility and infrastructure projects

If you’re talking to a customer in any of these spaces, this is a tool in your pocket worth mentioning!

What this means day-to-day

For most of us, not much changes on Monday morning. But it does mean FSG can now compete (and win) in places where procurement red tape used to slow us down or knock us out entirely. Joining Sourcewell lets us provide faster decisions, less administrative burden, and a smoother path from “interested” to “installed.”

If you have a customer who might benefit, make sure to loop in Dan McLaughlin, Director of Local Market Strategy & Development. He’s the go-to for details on how to actually use the contract on a specific opportunity.
