This month we discussed CAD servers that are now in operation in Houston. These servers allow multiple cad designers to work with common files simultaneously. Mike Galvan (DE40) built the server from scratch and has integrated this powerhouse machine into the office environment. His next objective is to duplicate this set up for a new job that Houston has recently been awarded that will require a team of CAD designers to work on a single project for the next two years. The use of this server will prove to be a tremendous time saver in updating and transferring files from one designer to the next. Not to mention reducing confusion and the potential of errors and omissions. Hat’s off to Mike for taking ownership of his department and demonstrating a great “get ‘er done” attitude.
